Web conference reflection

I attended the web conference on February 27, 2011. This was not my first web conference. Since I have been a student at Lamar University I have attended most of the web conferences that have been scheduled for my classes. Before attending Lamar I had never been involved in a web conference. I remember the first time I was involved in a web conference I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I found it very beneficial. I found out that some things were said in web conferences that are not always communicated in other places. Through attending web conferences, you become better educated on expectations of the professors and you get to find out what other people in the class are thinking or doing.
In this class, I have only gotten to attend one web conference. That was the first one. It was very helpful just like the other web conferences that I had been through. I was very disappointed after the conference to find out that we were being limited to one web conference during the class. I found myself listening to the taped web conferences and wishing I had been involved in them so that I could ask a question about something that was being discussed.
In my own day to day experience as an educator, I think it would be great to do a web I think it would be helpful in the future to divide up the web conferences between sections of the class so that people do not miss a web conference that they wanted to attend.
If I were in a regular education classroom I would love to try web conferences. I would love to set one up with some students in another part of the country or the world to discuss something that we were learning about in school. However, since I only work with two students at a time and what I do is dictated by RtI plans generated by the classroom teacher, I see myself struggling with this. I would like to eventually get out of doing RtI. If I am in a regular classroom I would love to use web conferences. If I am an administrator, I could also use web conferences to hold professional development sessions with people facing some of the same issues that I am facing in my position. It would be helpful to have a web conference to discuss ideas of ways to get students ready for the STAAR test or to find ways to get parents involved at school, or some other issue that might come up.
